Spectro Scientific announced yesterday that it has acquired fellow industrial fluids analysis and condition monitoring company, On-Site Analysis.

Spectro, based in Chelmsford, Mass., absorbed the Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.-headquarted OSA late last year. Terms were not disclosed.

Similarities in the two companies portfolios – which consist largely of fluids analysis equipment and software – make them highly compatible, Spectro spokesperson Sandra Schiller told Lube Report.

OSA will complement Spectros existing market of petrochemical, mining, power generation, water treatment, military, marine and railway segments. More significantly, Schiller continued, OSA will add a larger presence in the world of large municipal and commercial trucking fleets.

Key OSA offerings include TruckCheck, CoolCheck and MicroLab – automated, on-location analytics and diagnostic equipment that tests automotive engine fluids; coolants and diesel exhaust fluids; and machine lubricants, respectively.

OSA refers to the tools as table-top analyzers that can provide immediate analysis of lubrication systems. OSAs CoolCheck is the only automated testing service for coolants and diesel exhaust fluids, according to a Spectro press release.

The acquisition will expand Spectros geographic reach, with Spectros network spanning 50 countries.

Since its inception, OSA has pursued a vision of moving the oil and lubrication testing process from large, centralized laboratories to the actual users of the analytical information, Spectro President and CEO Brian Mitchell said in yesterdays press release.

That strategy aligns perfectly with Spectro Scientifics promise of enabling our customers to always make confident, knowledge-based decisions immediately and without the need of an expert operator.

Spectro said the corporate structures of the two units will merge. OSA has 40 employees, most located at the companys manufacturing operations in Marlborough, Mass.
