Sulfonates marketers Kimes Technologies International and Peterson Industries have merged under the Kimes name to promote a global growth strategy.

The details of the transaction will remain non-disclosed but Peterson Industries’ customers will gain access to a much expanded product line, technical, laboratory, and general internal support, Julie Kimes, president and CEO of Gibsonia, Pa.-based Kimes Technologies, told Lube Report. Kimes gains access to international sales, a wider geographical coverage, and Jeff Peterson’s expertise in international markets. Jeff Peterson, who is also an attorney, is now Kimes Technologies general counsel and also its director of international business.

Peterson Industries was formed by Dick Peterson, Jeffs father, after he retired from Lockhart Chemical. The business was an international brokerage of domestically sourced niche lubricant components. All sales were outside the United States, and the product line consisted of a variety of sulfonates and refinery products. The company was located in the same area of Pittsburgh as Kimes Technologies.

Dick Peterson began his lubricants industry career in 1980 with the original Kimes Corp., which was later sold to Lockhart Chemical. I worked with Dick for many years and am now very excited to be working with his son, Jeff, said Julie Kimes, who is daughter of company founder Norman L. Kimes.

In September 2010, Kimes Technologies International moved into a larger facility that included its first laboratory.
