Rosneft Upgrades Angarsk Lube Plant

Russian lube maker Rosneft more than doubled the output of its blending plant in its Angarsk refinery located in eastern Siberia.

The company upgraded its finished lubricants production unit so that it is now able to produce up to 60,000 tons annually, Rosneft said in a March 25 news release. The project included a modernized automatic line capable of filling a variety of canister volumes, automatic transportation of drums from the storage house to the filling line and installation of new pumping equipment.

The company also said that the plant is equipped with a lab and technology able to control the product quality at every stage of the production process. During a period of one year we are able to perform 220,000 analyses to guarantee the quality of our products, the oil major said, adding that the plants lubricants are used in many Russian industrial and automotive enterprises.

Rosneft is Russias largest state oil company. At its site in Angarsk, it operates a 250,000 metric tons per year Group I base oil plant. It is the only Russian base oil and lubricants supplier in Eastern Siberia and the countrys Far East.

After Lukoil, Rosneft is the second largest lube marketer in the country. In 2015, it produced 750,000 tons of base oils and finished lubricants combined, and held 30 percent of the countrys total finished lubricant market, according to the company. Rosneft also operates two more base oil plants located in Yaroslavl and Novokuibyshevsk, and three more lube, additive and specialty plants located in Ryazan, Moscow and Novokuibyshevsk.
