The system is a vacuum band filter equipped to handle a wide variety of sludge materials that can contaminate grinding fluids, such as ceramic, hollow structural sections, brass, aluminum oxide and disc abrasion, among other materials. Liqui Moly rolled out three new engine oils, with two aimed at BMWs. Top Tec 6600 SAE 0W-20 meets BMWs Longlife-17 FE+ and API SN Plus-Resource Conserving specifications, and is suitable for use in the latest gasoline engine BMWs, except the M series. Special Tec B FE SAE 5W-30 is developed for older BMW models with gasoline engines lacking particle filters. It carries BMWs Longlife-01 FE and meets requirements for API SL, suitable for 2004 and earlier model years, the company says. Castrol, in conjunction with control systems company Tiefenbach, rolled out Castrol SmartControl, a system that allows manufacturers to automatically monitor and control central systems of metalworking fluids. The company claims that its system provides instant data that ensures metalworking processes are more efficient, reliable and can operate continuously without operator intervention. Specialty chemical company Cortec has released Ecoline Rail Curve Grease, Winter, intended to lubricate rail curves in low temperatures. The grease is designed to reduce friction and protect against wheel and rail wear in high pressure areas, increasing rail and wheel life and reducing downtime and costs associated with wheel and rail replacement. Petro-Canada Lubricants expanded its heavy-duty product lines with the launches of Duron Advanced SAE 5W-30 and Traxon Synthetic SAE 75W-85 lubricants. The fully synthetic Duron engine oil is designed to enhance fuel economy, durability, engine protection and shear stability for the latest heavy-duty engines. The Traxon product provides easier start-ups and improved cold weather shifting for manual transmissions, hypoid gears and rear axles. The fluid also offers enhanced efficiency and long-lasting wear protection that can extend equipment life and reduce unplanned downtime and associated maintenance costs, the company claims. Lubes for IMO 2020
Cepsa, a global energy company headquartered in Madrid, Spain, added two new marine lubricants to its product portfolio for vessels compliant with IMO 2020. Gavia 4050 is formulated to lubricate cylinders of slow-speed two-stroke marine engines. Larus 2040 is designed for use in four-stroke marine diesel engines and is compatible with both ultra- and very-low-sulfur fuel oils, the company claims. Gas Truck Engine Oil
Next month Shell will launch its Shell Rotella Gas Truck full synthetic engine oil, designed for use in old and new gasoline-powered pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles. It is formulated to provide engine protection for towing and hauling, while also offering added oxidation stability, improved volatility and low-temperature properties, the company stated. The oil is offered in viscosity grades SAE 0W-20, SAE 5W-20 and SAE 5W-30 and will be available in the United States in January 2020 and in Canada in May 2020.
