Hot and Stable
Nycos new neopolyol ester boasts high temperature stability for chain oils, air compressor oils and other severe applications, the company says. Nycobase 9670X has high oxidative and hydrolytic stability, and low evaporation and coking propensity. It responds well to anti-wear additives and can achieve flash points above 300 degrees Celsius with the proper additive package, says Nyco. It can also be mixed with other high temperature esters. First GE Approval for Synthetic Gear Oil
Chemturas Anderol Specialty Lubricants has earned approval from General Electric for its Anderol 5000 Plus extreme pressure synthetic gear oil series. The approval covers off-highway vehicle motorized wheel gearbox applications under GEs new D50E35 specification. The PAO/ester based product is designed for gear applications requiring high micro-pitting resistance and protection under extreme conditions, and is the first to receive this kind of approval, the company says. Eaton Rebrands Lubes
Eaton Corp., one of the largest manufacturers of heavy-duty driveline components, has revised its line of synthetic lubricants with a new name, specifications and labeling. The company says the changes are meant to help customers identify and use the proper lubricant for its medium- and heavy-duty transmissions and other products. Now sold as Eaton brand, the lubricants are backward-compatible and meet the companys new PS-386 specification, which replaces the decade-old PS-164rev7. The new Eaton PS-278 spec has been specially formulated for the wet dual-clutch design of Procision transmissions. Eaton-branded lubricants include two axle fluids, multi-purpose grease and two transmission fluids. Web: www.eaton.com
Gulf Oil Dives Deeper into PCMO
Gulf Oil Lubricants India aims to expand its presence in the passenger car market with an entry-level synthetic engine oil called Gulf Ultrasynth X. The 5W-30 multigrade oil meets API SN and ILSAC GF-5 specifications. It can be used for gasoline, diesel, compressed natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas vehicles, the company says, and is most suitable for new generation compact mid-size to premium mid-size cars. According to Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Gulf Oil Lubricants brand ambassador, the product launch is in keeping with the companys strategy to increase its market share in Indias growing passenger car segment. Fluid Analysis on Site
The MicroLab platform, which maker Spectro Scientific brags is used in nearly every industry that operates engine-powered equipment, now encompasses an all-in-one, automated lubricant analysis system. The multi-component analyzer can be used for engine, generator, gear box, power steering and transmission fluids. It is offered in two versions – the MicroLab 30 assesses key properties for oil chemistry, kinematic viscosity and concentration of 10 wear and contamination metals. The MicroLab 40 can analyze 20 wear, contamination and additive metals and includes a particle counter for analyzing gear and hydraulic oils. Web: www.spectrosci.com
Horizon App Feature
Online sample submission is the newest feature in Polaris Labs Horizon mobile app. The app – which is meant for field analysis of oils, fuels, coolants and water based fluids – now allows users to enter sample data into the app and link it to a barcode on the sample jar. This eliminates the need for sample paperwork to be filled out and shipped along with samples, says the company. A data validation process also eliminates paperwork mistakes from holding up testing. Nanotech Gets Greasy
Nanotechs new line of greases includes fully formulated lithium complex products as well as extreme pressure and antiwear additives. The fully formulated NanoLub greases are NLGI GC-LB certified and have no active sulfur, according to the company. The EP Plus grease achieves over 800kgf in weld loads, and the corresponding additive can be used to achieve similar results with treat rates of 0.5 percent to 3 percent, said Nanotechs director of technology, George Diloyan. Based on its IF-WS2 technology, which the company says shows outstanding resistance to temperature, shock and pressure, the products are versatile under extreme operating conditions. Thick Mixing
Chemineer has developed the JT-2 impeller for blending high-viscosity and non-Newtonian fluids in transitional flow. The equipment is useful in fluids that are too viscous for conventional turbines yet dont need close clearance impellers. According to the company, the impeller efficiently moves material in opposite directions in the center and the outside of the tank. The flow pattern increases efficiency by reducing recirculation zones and improving top to bottom communication in the vessel. Web: www.chemineer.com
Cheery Bag TicksUN Box
CDF Corp.s Cheertainer bag-in-box design has been certified to the United Nations standards for transporting hazardous materials in Packing Groups II and III, the company reports. The 20-liter fiberboard and plastic packaging passed drop, stacking, vibration and water absorption tests. Web: www.cdf1.com
Markee Releases Proprietary Additives
Markee International has begun selling some of its proprietary additives, including MP Nocor, a ferrous corrosion inhibitor without MEA, DEA, hydroxides or other ingredients harmful to operators. The company says it will soon release other additives for sequestering, inhibiting galvanic action, and foam control. With its own green standard that the company says surpasses that of the industry, Markee claims to have pioneered the field of water based fluids to eliminate petroleum oils and solvents from manufacturing.
