Sara Lefcourt, recently retired from Infineum and now president of Lefcourt Consulting in Scotch Plains, N.J., has set herself the challenge of answering some very good questions in a special series for LubesnGreases. She begins this month on page 42, where she introduces Best Practices.

Do you work for a small or mid-size company, Sara asks, and if so, are you missing out on the ideas and solutions that big companies use? Or if youre in a big company, do you grapple with processes that take time and effort without delivering value? Sara will be tackling these challenges in this pointed series. She told me her goal is to share the tips and know-how from years of working, to take the best big-company practices so smaller companies can use them.

Sara started her career at Exxon Corp. in refining, crude trading and sales, then moved to the additives and specialty chemicals arena at Paramins. She joined Infineum when it was founded in 1999 as a Shell-Exxon joint venture that combined Paramins and Shell Additives, and most recently was vice president of supply before her retirement. Im looking forward to her coming columns, and to adding more value to LubesnGreases!

Speaking of long-term value, 20 years ago next month we published the first issue of LubesnGreases. In that inaugural issue, Lisa and Gloria joined me in spelling out our publishing philosophy. LubesnGreases is reader driven, we wrote. Not advertiser driven. Reader driven… Were pledged to making every issue informative and entertaining for you. Were pledged to earning your trust and respect as the magazine you can count on to be fair and accurate, and not afraid to tackle the sticky issues. Were pledged to being the best.

Today, the LubesnGreases family has grown to include a range of lubricant industry publications under the watchful eyes of our experienced editors. The newest member of our family: Lube Report Asia!

If breaking news and enterprise reporting for and about the Asian lubricant, base oil and additive industries is important to you, check out the current issue at www.LubeReportAsia.com and subscribe today. Lube Report Asia, like its older sister Lube Report, is emailed to subscribers weekly, and its free worldwide.
