Out of Wedlock

David Wedlock has stepped down as our bimonthly Base Oil Report columnist. He has been a stalwart contributor of articles covering the technicalities of base oils for the past eight years, offering a perfect accompaniment to the business focus of our other columnist, Ray Masson.

Before he contributed a regular column, David often sent in suggestions – or corrections, as he puts it – to the magazine on a range of issues of interest to a global audience. They were aware of me, he quipped.

Our executive editor decided to put our money where Davids mouth was and approached him at a conference to ask if hed like to share his thoughts with our readers in longer form. He agreed, and over the years has amassed a substantial body of writing on almost every aspect of base oil production.

We thank him for his work and wish him all the best as he continues consulting and, in his spare time, swooping around the skies above England in his glider!

When you turn to page six, you will notice a new name at the top the page. In Davids stead, we welcome Mike Peters. Mike is the technical support and development manager for specialty fluids company SIP. He has 45 years of experience in the business, so he knows his onions. I look forward to editing his insightful columns for many years to come.
