ExxonMobil Sells Wax Emulsions Unit

PMC Group said last month thatits specialty chemical subsidiary Crystal has bought ExxonMobil’s North American wax emulsion business. PMC officials said the acquisition of ExxonMobils brand names, accounts and technology will make it the premier supplier of these specialty wax based products in North America. ITW Buys Wynn Oil

A subsidiary of Illinois Tool Works announced last week that it has boughtWynn Oil Company from manufacturing giant Parker Hannifin Corp.Wynn manufacturesautomotive specialty chemicals and equipment. The acquisition was made by ITW Performance Polymers, of Danvers, Mass., which makes adhesives and sealants for original equipment manufacturers and maintenance and repair industries. Construction of Polands first premium base oil plant has come to a halt – the result of bankruptcy, triggered by the financing needed to pay for the project. Prices for lubricant additives rose sharply over the past year. In that respect, they fit in perfectly with most inputs for lubricant blenders. Base oil, energy, transportation and packaging costs also climbed, largely because of steep increases in the price of crude oil. Crude has affected additives, too, but observers say other factors have also played a role.
