Shell Docks Big Naval Contract
November 3, 2004Shell Marine Products (US) Co. will receive a big – and potentially huge – contract to provide lubricants and related services to the agency that supplies American armed forces around the world, the U.S. Department of Defense announced Friday. November 3, 2004Earnings reports out the past week spotlighted growing revenue in the lubricant additives and lube industries. That did not necessarily translate into bigger profits, though, as companies showed mixed success passing on higher raw materials costs. Lubrizol Corp. boasted a 39 percent improvement in third quarter operating earnings from its lubricant additives segment. Petronas Plans Group III Plant
November 3, 2004Petronas apparently intends to make a mark with its first step into the base oil business. According to an announcement by ExxonMobil, Malaysias national oil company plans to build a plant with capacity to produce 6,500 barrels per day, most of it Group III. The project would immediately make Petronas one of the largest suppliers of Group III oils. November 3, 2004HDPE has long been the plastic of choice for lubricant packagers. Now a Toronto-area start-up is challenging that practice by specializing in bottles made of PET.
