Swedish Surfactants Plant Expands

Nouryon announced Aug. 27 that it will double capacity at its surfactants plant in Stenungsund, Sweden, through a 12-million expansion and upgrade scheduled for completion by 2021s first quarter. The expanded plant will produce corrosion inhibitors and surfactants for the lubricants market.

German Firm Boosts Production, Capacity

German lubricant and grease maker Zeller & Gmelin is expanding its grease production and tank storage capacity to meet growing demand. The expansion work at its Eislingen production site should be complete by the end of 2019, the company confirmed to Lube Report on Monday.

BASF Increases Carboxylic Acid Capacity

BASF increased its global production capacity for isononanoic acid and 2-ethylhexanoic acid - considered higher carboxylic acids - the company announced last week. Carboxylic acids are used in the manufacturing of lubricant esters.

Evonik announced yesterday it is expanding its production capacity for polyalkylmethacrylate-based viscosity modifiers by 15 percent to meet rising demand. The oil additives provider has a global production footprint, including three plants in Europe.

Lanxess completed a 15 percent expansion to its global production capacity of corrosion inhibition additives, which are used in a number of products - including metalworking fluids and greases - the Germany specialty chemicals company announced last week.

Saudi Project to Make Base Oils at Yanbu
