Petronas Lubricants Marketing Malaysia will supply its Syntium fully synthetic engine oil to Mazda distributor Bermaz Auto’s dealerships under a 5-year supply agreement, replacing the use of semi-synthetic engine oil at the dealerships. Bermaz distributes Mazda vehicles and spare parts in Malaysia.

Indian Oil Corp. plans to build a technology development center that will house four centers of excellence, focusing on alternative and renewable energy, nanotechnology, synthetic biology and corrosion research.  The new campus, on a 60-acre plot at a cost of Rs 2,200 crore (22 billion Indian rupees or U.S. $294 million), will extend the company’s R&D Center that was set up in Faridabad, India, in 1972 to establish capabilities in production of lubricating oils.  Chevron Australia Downstream Pty Ltd. completed the AU$425 million (U.S. $294 million) acquisition of Puma Energy (Australia) Holdings Pty Ltd., a fuel and lubricants distributor and service station chain.

Orlen China will launch operations in Suzhou in China’s Jiangsu Province during the second half of this year to manage direct sales of Poland’s state-run Orlen Group. The company said it will initially focus on selling engine oils, previously distributed in China through third parties, while operating in Jiangsu and neighboring provinces.

Shell Lubricants partnered with Pitstop, a Bengaluru, India-based start-up, to enable zero-contact doorstep servicing of vehicles for consumers. The initiative consists of 500 operational vans and will generate employment for mechanics across 20 cities, including Delhi-NCR, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune and Hyderabad. Michael Chong joined Emery Oleochemicals' bio-lubricants commercial team as a regional sales manager, based in Telok Panglima Garang, Malaysia.

India's government extended for a second time the deadline to bid for privatization of oil and gas company Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd. – this time by more than a month to July 31. The government in March invited bids to buy its almost 53 percent stake in BPCL, which is one of the country’s largest lubricant suppliers and one of four domestic base oil producers. Chinese industrial oil supplier Amer initiated its plan to go public in China. Amer CEO Wang Xiaolong said it is still too early to provide a plan agenda.

Pertamina plans to build Pertashop mini gas stations in four villages in Indonesia to provide access to residents located far from general fuel filling stations. The company said it will sell vehicle lubricants at the new stations in the future.

Vehicle sales for 11 key automobile manufacturers in China during early May reached 351,000 units, down almost 14 percent from sales during the same period in 2019, according to a statistical analysis issued yesterday by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

Oleochemical maker Oleon’s facility in Port Klang, Malaysia, produced 6,500 liters of hand sanitizer last month to give away to the Malaysian Ministry of Health and the county’s fire and rescue department. The company makes synthetic polyol esters, fatty esters and ester base oils used in lubricants and greases.
