Valvoline International Inc. last week named Prista Oil Group to distribute its engine oils and other car care products in Central and Eastern Europe. The U.S.-based lubricant marketer said it is trying to expand in that part of the continent.

This agreement represents a major step forward in improving our supply and delivery capabilities for customers in this fast-growth market, said Dean Doza, Valvolines vice president and general manager for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Through Pristas experience and logistics network in [Central and Eastern Europe], we can assure the continued availability of our comprehensive range of Valvoline products and services to automotive workshops, fleet owners, industrial and retail customers in the region.

Valvoline is part of Covington, Kentucky-based Ashland Inc., which claims that Valvoline is the oldest lubricant brand in the world. The agreement with Prista calls for the fast-growing Bulgarian lubricant manufacturer to distribute Valvoline products in Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, the Slovak Republic and the Czech Republic.

Prista is based in Sofia and is one of the largest lubricant producers in Eastern Europe. It called the deal a good match that should help boost business for both companies.

I truly believe such cooperation, which combines the industry experience and technical knowledge of Valvoline with the energy and youth of the fast-growing Prista Oil organization, will directly contribute to a high quality of service and excellent relationships with our partners, said Plamen Bobokov, Pristas chief executive officer.
