Shell and Hyundai extended their Russian agreement for lubricants supply, training, technical support and marketing events to a five-year period.

Under the deal signed last month, Shell will supply Hyundai Motor CIS service centers with its finished lubricants produced in its plant in Torzhok, and will support the dealers with technical, training and marketing activities over the next five years.

Hyundai considers Shell its preferred lubricants supplier in Europe, and this renewed agreement also includes supply to the Korean automotive giants international service centers. Hyundai Motor CIS is its authorized Russian company which operates 143 dealership centers in the country, as well as a car production plant in St. Petersburg that can not only assemble cars using imported car parts but can produce such parts on site as well.

Shell supplied Hyundai Motor CIS with 6 million liters of its Helix-branded finished products since the beginning of the partnership in 2008.

As a major global lubricants supplier Shell develops new solutions in partnership with the major automotive companies, Shell Neft said in its Dec. 31 press release. Continuation of our partnership with Hyundai is a strategic decision and it will be a positive development for both companies, on a local and global level, said William Kozik, general director of Shell Neft.

Hyundai operates a car production plant in Kamenka industrial park in St. Petersburg. The plant can produce up to 200,000 units per year and it reached its full capacity in 2012. It produces car parts and a few Kia and Hyundai passenger car models.

Shell is a major lubricants marketer in Russia, and it claims to provide around 20 percent of the countrys 500,000 metric tons per year of imported finished lubricants.
