Northwest ExMo Distributor Grows

PetroCard Systems has acquired Estacada Oil and its Northwest Petroleum lubricants division, extending the ExxonMobil lube distributors reach into northern and central Oregon. Terms of the transaction, announced Monday, were not disclosed.

We were looking to expand our presence in the commercial and industrial lubes world, and thats Northwest Petroleums primary focus, PetroCard CEO Steve Tolton told Lube Report. They provide hydraulic oil products to power generation at some of the dams, they provide lubricant products for some of the wind generation done in Oregon, and they provide lubricant services for fleets of trucks as well. Theyre also an ExxonMobil lubes distributor, as are we.

John and Karmen Bresko, who owned and operated Estacada, Ore.-based Estacada Oil and Clackamas, Ore.-based Northwest Petroleum, have divested their financial interest in the two companies and are retiring. PetroCard said it will retain the six current employees, and the two acquired companies will now operate under the PetroCard brand name.

Kent, Wash.-based PetroCards cardlock customers and Northwest Petroleums commercial and industrial lubes focus were a good fit, Tolton said.

We concentrate to some extent on the same market, the same customers, he explained. In fact, some of their customers are our customers. We had not been a lubes supplier in the Oregon area prior to this acquisition.

PetroCard Systems lubricants focus is on the passenger vehicle side, he said, selling to retail chains, quick lubes, dealers, wholesale operations, automotive installers, commercial and heavy-duty fleets out of its offices in Arlington and Spokane, Wash., and now also from Clackamas, Ore.

In addition to lubricants, PetroCard sells fuel through a network of unattended cardlock stations, delivers fuel to bulk tanks and provides mobile fueling services to commercial vehicles.

Formed in 1986, PetroCard acquired Spokane, Wash.-based distributor Thunderbird Lubrications in 2005. Other acquisitions included fuels distributor Metrofueling in 2006 and mobile fueling business South Center Oil in 2000.
