NexLube Tampas contractors will begin construction on its base oil rererefinery and blending plant in Florida by the end of June.
Were still planning on commissioning the plant in the last quarter of 2013, Alberto Mendoza, NexLube Tampa vice president of marketing and supply/managing member, told Lube Report.
The Tampa Port Authority and NexLube Tampa signed a 20-year lease agreement June 6 for the 12 acres where the $75 million rerefinery will be located. In a statement, the port authority said the NexLube project is expected to create hundreds of jobs during its two-year construction phase and provide 75 direct and indirect jobs during the 20-year agreement, with the option to extend the agreement an additional 10 years.
Mendoza said the facility is expected to process 24 million gallons of used oil annually, and produce 20 million gallons per year of API Group II base oil in three cuts: SN85, N150 and 330 plus. The rerefinery will use Revivoil technology, developed by Viscolube of Italy and Axens of France.
The project will include an on-site blending plant designed to produce about 24 million gallons per year of finished lubricants, including of motor oil, hydraulic fluid, transmission fluid and other specialty products, including white oils.
