Lube oil additives marketer Petroleum Chemicals has moved to a larger facility in Sacramento, Calif., to accommodate business and staff expansions.

Petroleum Chemicals president Bob Scheetz said the new sales facility will give the company more flexibility as its business continues to grow. Were adding two more employees, Scheetz told Lube Report. Weve been in rented offices, and were buying a building. He said the company will fully move into its new location within about three weeks.

The company supplies additives to independent lubricant manufacturers and the automotive aftermarket industry. It has regional offices in San Francisco, Denver and Richmond, Va., that provide customers in North America and overseas with engine oil additives, driveline and industrial products, sulfonates, components, viscosity modifiers and automotive aftermarket additives.

We do not manufacture anything, Scheetz said. We buy from several vendors, importing products from India and Brazil. We are continually trying to add new products.

Scheetz noted that while Petroleum Chemicals customers can buy from major additive manufacturers, tough economic times have made prices increasingly important. When times are not so good, theyre looking for better prices, and thats when we can do better, Scheetz explained. This recession was so long and deep, I wasnt sure how it would react, but so far, knock on wood, its still going OK.

Scheetz established Petroleum Chemicals in 1994. He had worked for Chevron Chemical Co. for 24 years, including several years as product manager for the Oronite additives division.
