Castrol, Safety-Kleen Team on Circularity

BP’s Castrol and Safety-Kleen have entered a partnership to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by increasing the amount of used Castrol lubricants that are collected and recycled and raising the levels of rerefined base oils used in some Castrol products.

Chile Rerefinery Gains Approval

A subsidiary of Chilean energy and forestry company Copec received approval from a local environmental authority to develop the nation’s largest used lubricant rerefinery outside the capital of Santiago.

Profits Slip at Martin Midstream

Martin Midstream Partners reported a slight decrease in first quarter operating income on lower sales for its specialty products business segment, which includes lubricants and greases. Meanwhile, Brazilian lubricant blender Vibra Energia reported an increase in lubricant sales volume for full-year 2023.

Brazil’s National Association of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers reported that sales of passenger cars declined 6% in March to 188,000 units. For the first quarter of this year, sales were up 9% at 515,000 units.
