Total Expands US Footprint

Total Lubricants North America has acquired independent lubricant manufacturer Lubricants USA LP of Plano, Texas, for an undisclosed amount.

Acquisition of Lubricants USA provides a springboard for Total to significantly expand its presence within the U.S. lubricants and greases industry, said Olivier Goutal, vice president of Total Lubricants North America. We look forward to continued growth with [Lubricants USAs] distributors, as well as enlisting prospective distributors in new market geographies.

Lubricants USA President and CEO Chris Haire has been named president of the new entity, Total Lubricants USA Southwest. Lubricants USA, prior to its sale to Total, was the exclusive marketer of Fina-branded lubricants in the United States. Total will now be the dominant brand nationwide, Haire told Lube Report.

Lubricants USA, which currently markets a wide range of automotive and industrial lubricants in 26 states, anticipates rapid growth as soon as strategies are finalized, the company said, with no impact on current employees. The companys management team will remain intact, Haire said. Were excited by the prospects of merging our organization with Totals.

Total Lubricants North America, based in Linden, N.J., is a wholly-owned subsidiary of French oil and chemical giant Total. In December 2007,the French oil majoracquired Canadian blender Tribospec, now Total Lubricants Canada.
