Chevron Oronite to Use Intertek’s China Labs

Chevron Oronite Co. LLC is increasing its analytical testing capabilities in China. The additives giant last week signed an agreement with Intertek Group, PLC to use Intertek’s testing services and laboratory in Shanghai following a rigorous audit.

The addition of the Shanghai testing facility is part of a longer term strategy for China that supplements Chevron Oronites other technical support and research network around the world, including our technology center in Japan, which has a full range of laboratory and engine test facilities Jirong Xiao, vice president, products & technology, Chevron Oronite, said in last weeks announcement.

The facility, which is already in use, will initially focus on enhancing Oronites customer service while improvingits ongoing in-country field testing efforts.A company spokesman said that typical services provided in the new lab will include oil sample analysis for quality control purposes.

“With a lab open in China, Chevron Oronite offers analytical services which immediately enhances the turnaround time and service to our customers,” Jeff Waite, General Manager for Sales, Asia-Pacific, Chevron Oronite, said.

Chevron Oronite operates several research and technology facilities around the world, including: Omaezaki, Japan; Richmond, Calif.; Gonfreville, France, and Rotterdam. A certified research and testing facility in San Antonio, is managed under a similar agreement between Chevron Oronite and Intertek.
