Volgograd Gets New Lube Shipping Terminal

Lukoil opened a new modernized loading center for lubricants and bitumen products at its refinery in Volgograd, Russia, the company announced earlier this month.

Officials said the shipping terminal installed digital technologies and standards to improve the efficiency of ground transportation of petroleum products.

It also installed software that enables online queuing and reservation of petroleum products, the company said in a press release. Additionally, the company can now deliver bitumen materials with its own tank trucks.

All bitumen carriers are equipped with electronic security sealing system plumbing, GPS/[Global Navigation Satellite System] transmitters and cameras which stream videos to a 24/7 control center. These technologies guarantee authenticity of supplied products and protect customers from unauthorized unloading, the company asserted in the press release.

Lukoil – which is one of Russias largest lubricant producers – has blending plants at refineries in Volgograd and Perm, and a standalone blending plant in Tyumen.

The company plans to open a blending plant in Kazakhstans Almaty region, close to the Western Europe-Western China transportation corridor.
