Totals subsidiary in Pakistan recently launched a mobile, on-call oil change service for car owners in Karachi.

The company said that it launched the service to meet customer demand for convenience. Consumers near Total Pakistans Karachi headquarters can now have Total change their cars oil at their homes or other locations rather than having to go to an oil change facility or service station.

Implementing the mobile service has been challenging, Total Instalube Project Manager Hasan Farooq told Lube Report Asia. However, the company believes that it has enough service vehicles and staff to cover the demand it anticipates. [Total Pakistan] has ensured enough vehicles to cover the nooks and corners of Karachi and is gradually adding vehicles to the fleet, Hasan said.

The service will garner the company a larger share of the regions automotive lubricants market and will prove to be a trendsetter in Pakistan, he added.

Hasan said the service has received a very encouraging response, which has emboldened the company to launch the service beyond Pakistan and possibly throughout other areas in the Asia-Pacific region.

Total Pakistan has promoted the service through advertisements on the radio and other forms of local media, as well as on social media, Hasan said, adding that the company has received numerous orders for the service from subscribers to its Facebook page. Initially, the company will also offer free oil filters with the service.

Chinese lubricant company China Rerun Chemicallaunched a similar initiative in 2012 and said that the service allowed it to reach more customers – especially in smaller cities and rural areas.
