Balmer Lawrie Slides, Sah and FKT Improve

Balmer Lawries greases and lubricants segment posted an 8 percent drop in revenue and a marginal loss for the three months ended Sept. 30 compared to the year-earlier period, while Sah Petroleums revenue and expenses both rose 18 percent in its third quarter year-over-year, bringing a surge in net profit.

For 2014s first nine months, Indonesian lube blender PT Federal Karyatama reported a marginal uptick in sales volumes, an 8 percent jump in revenue and an 11 percent increase in net profit year-over-year.

Balmer Lawrie reported drops in revenue and profit for the second quarter of their financial year, ending Sept. 30. Indias largest grease company, headquarted in Kolkata, reported net sales of 92.38 crores (Rs 924 million, or U.S. $15 million) for their grease and lube segment, an 8 percent decline from 100.62 crores in the year-earlier period.

Balmer Lawrie lost less than a crore in gross profit this quarter, a drop from its 5 crores profit before tax in 2013s second quarter. The company reported gains for its other segments this quarter – industrial packaging, logistics infrastructure and services, and travel and tours.

For its third quarter, which ended Sept. 30, Sah Petroleums net income rose 18 percent to 11,084 lahks (Rs 1.1 billion, or U.S. $18 million), from 9,107 lahks in last years corresponding quarter. Expenses also rose 18 percent, to 10,645 lahks, compared to 8,754 lahks last year.

The result was a jump in net profit to 58.75 lakhs, a sharp increase year-over-year for the Mumbai-based lubricant company, which reported a loss of 236 lahks in last years third quarter.

Indonesian lube blender PT Federal Karyatama, owned by PT Mitra Pinasthika Mustika Tbk (MPM), saw a marginal uptick in sales volumes for its consumer parts segment, reporting 47,355 kiloliters in this years nine-months-ended period, up from 47,037 kiloliters in the year-earlier period.

KFT, which markets motorcycle oil under its Federal Oil brand and blends and packages AHM-branded lubricants for Honda Motorcycles, reported an 8 percent increase in revenue from Jan. 1 to Sept. 30, 2014, bringing in 1,207 billion Rupiahs (U.S. $98,812) compared to 1,114 on Sept. 30, 2013. The companys net profit rose 11 percent to 204, compared to 183 for the same period last year.
