New Search Starting for Isla Operator

The search for a new operator for the Isla Refinery in Willemstad, Curacao, may be on once again as the government’s patience wears thin with its latest preferred partner. Local media reports indicate new tactics could be in store to find an operator for the facility.

Michigan Halts Sale of Orion Products

The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development issued a stop-use and stop-removal order on REV 360 brand products from Orion Lubricants, it announced last week. The agency found Orion’s products do not contain the amount of product claimed, nor do they meet the 5W-30 viscosity advertised on the containers.

Get Spiffy Buys Pit Crew

North Carolina-based Get Spiffy, an on-demand car care services company, acquired Pit Crew, which provides mobile oil changes, tire and other automotive services to Tennessee’s three largest markets – Nashville, Memphis and Knoxville. Terms were not disclosed.

Andrew Tometich will become Quaker Houghton’s new CEO, as well as a member of its board of directors, effective Dec. 1. Tometich will join the company in early October and begin transitioning with CEO Michael F. Barry, who will retire on Dec. 31 and continue as chairman of the board. In response to strong demand and disruptions to raw material supply caused by Hurricane Ida, OQ Chemicals said on Sept. 10 it will implement a global sales control program for all U.S.-produced carboxylic acids effective immediately, until further notice.  Valvoline Inc. and engines and components manufacturer Cummins Inc. announced a five-year renewal of their longstanding marketing and technology partnership agreement.
