U.S. Fast Lube Population Edges Down

The 50 largest fast lube chains in the United States operated 2 percent fewer facilities than last year, according to National Oil & Lube News 2018 Tops in the Industry Rankings, released on Monday.

Base Oil Imports Jump in Brazil

Base oil imports to Brazil have increased sharply in 2018, jumping 38 percent in the first five months of the year compared to the same period of 2017, according to a speaker at an industry conference in Rio de Janeiro last month.

GF-6 Timeline Yet to be Settled

Now that all of its engine tests have been accepted, the countdown has begun for first licensing of the ILSAC GF-6 passenger car motor oil category. It remains to be settled, though, just how long the clock will tick.

The Middleborough, Massachusetts-based company provides measurement and control instrumentation such as viscometers, rheometers, texture analyzers and powder flow testers. Pilot Chemical Co. Vice President of Research and Development Rick Shook is retiring from his position at the Cincinnati, Ohio-based company after nearly 40 years, and will remain on in a consultant capacity.
